Founder and Executive Director

Elias Hendricks III

Elias Hendricks III is a Birmingham-raised opera singer, performing artist, and community leader. He is Founder and Executive Director of Vox Academy and a member of the Classical Soul vocal group Vox Fortura.

He originated the Classical Soul genre, fusing classical and operatic music with soul, R&B, and musical theatre. Elias left Birmingham at 18 for Southern Methodist University, made his professional debut in Italy at 19, and built an international career across New York, Hong Kong, and London, including Disney's The Lion King in Hong Kong, Motown the Musical in the West End, and a semi-final run on Britain's Got Talent.

During the pandemic he moved back to Birmingham to be closer to family. For the past three years he has made it a point to be home every summer to run Vox Academy.
